In case of revocation of the bank’s license by the Banking Agency of Republika Srpska or the Banking Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (competent banking agency), the Deposit Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina shall reimburse depositors their funds, if they are covered.

The competent banking agency officially announces the decision to revoke the bank’s license.

The Deposit Insurance Agency of BiH, through the media and the official website, informs depositors about their rights and obligations, the selected aegnt bank, and the place and date of the beginning of the deposit payout.

If the depositor exercises the right to file claim on the basis of the insured deposit, he/she will receive a notification from the Agency, as well as a request for payout which he/she will fill in and, with the attachment of legal proof of ownership of the deposit, the funds will be available. The decision of the depositor will be whether to withdraw the funds in cash or to transfer them to the account of another bank of his/her choice.

The Agency is obliged to make insured deposits available to the depositor no later than 20 working days from the day of revocation of the bank’s operating license. As the owner of the insured deposit, the depositor has the right to withdraw his/her funds within 5 years from the day when bank license was revoked.

The insured deposit may be paid to another person only if such person has a valid power of attorney from the owner of the insured deposit, which is issued after the bank’s license has been revoked.If the depositor has deposit over BAM 70,000, he/she will claim the difference from the bank whose license has been revoked and which is under liquidation or bankruptcy.
