Management Board of the Deposit Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its session held on 24th November, 2009 passed a Decision about insurance premium rate for 2010. This Decision is published in the Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina no 98/09 of 1 December 2009.
Insurance premium rate for 2010 has remained at the same level as so far, i.e. 0,3% per annum per the basis determined by the Law on Deposit Insurance.
As of October 28, 2009 in the «Official Gazette of BiH», no. 88/09 has published Decision on changes and amendments to Decision on Bank’s participation Criteria in Deposit Insurance program at Deposit Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Decision reffers to its harmonization to last change of the Law on Deposit Insurance in Banks of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As of July 10, 2009 the ABS Banka D.D. Sarajevo has change its name and since then the bank operates under the new name “Sparkasse Bank dd”.
International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) headquartered in Basel, Switzerland will acknowledge its 4th annual International Week of Deposit Insurance on 11 to 15 May 2009.
The week will be highlighted at a seminar on “Addressing the Challenges of the Global Financial Crisis“, hosted and sponsored by the Instituto para la Protección al Ahorro Bancario (IPAB), in Mexico City on 14 May 2009. Please see www.iadi.org for updates on the seminar program.
At the same time, individual members are encouraged to acknowledge the week in their home countries with the theme “Improving the Effectiveness of Deposit Insurance” and to recognize activities taken to provide stability and protect bank depositors during the global financial crisis.
During the last year great global crisis made impact in all countries from the world, thus caused outflow of deposits and savings from banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as from the banks in countries in the region. Deposit Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has increased insured deposit coverage to KM 20.000,00 and together with other financial institutions made public acknowledgments about stability of the financial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After that, there was recorded increase and inflow of deposits in banks.
By that, Deposit Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed its position and role in the banking system of Bosnia and Herzegovina which is considered to be the healthiest segment of our society.
Deposit Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina analyses and monitors the work and business operations of the banks in the spirit of legal frames on an on going basis in order to get closer to the developed deposit insurance schemes in an effective manner and as soon as possible.
