On Dec 16, 2008 in the Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina no. 100/08 there was published a Law on changes and amendments to the Law on Deposit Insurance in Banks of Bosnia and Herzegovina which shall go into effect on Dec 24, 2008.
The major changes to the Law are as follows:
– the amount of insured deposit is determined in the level of KM 20.000;
– there shall be covered exclusively deposits of natural persons;
– in future, the Management Board shall determine by its decision the amount of insured deposit which shall be published in the Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On session held on December 1, 2008 the Management Board of Deposit Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted Decision about level of premium rate.
Determined insurance premium rate is in the level of 0,3% p.a. to the calculation basis determined by the Law on Deposit Insurance in Banks of Bosnia and Herzegovina and shall be applied as of 1 January 2009.
Based on Decision of Municipal Court in Sarajevo, number: 065-0-Reg-08-002471 dated August 20, 2008 UPI banka d.d. Sarajevo has made change of its name into INTESA SANPAOLO BANK D.D. BOSNA I HERCEGOVINA”.
Nova Banjalučka a.d. Banja Luka has made legal change of its name into UniCredit Bank a.d. Banja Luka. Under new name this banka operates until June 2, 2008.

On 31 March 2008, Deposit Insurance Contract was officially signed and deposit insurance membership certificate handed over to FIMA Banka d.d. Sarajevo. Based upon mentioned signing, as of 1 April 2008, FIMA Banka d.d. Sarajevo has become 24th Member of the deposit insurance program.
On 29 February 2008, there was a status change of merger of HVB Central Profit banka d.d Sarajevo to UniCredit Zagrebacka banka d.d. Mostar. All rights and obligations of HVB Central Profit banka d.d. Sarajevo shall be transferred to UniCredit Zagrebacka banka d.d. Mostar, which will change its name into UniCredit Bank d.d. Mostar. With the status change of merger of those two aforesaid banks, there are currently 23 Member Banks in deposit insurance program.
In a meeting of the Management Board of the Deposit Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina held on December 2007, IEFK Bank A.D. Banja Luka was admitted into deposit insurance membership starting as of 1 January 2008. By that, the aforesaid Bank has become 24th member of the deposit insurance scheme with DIA BH.
